Summary:

Reporting to and under the authority of the Technical Coordinator and/or Projects Manager, the civil engineering Technician brings his technical support to the execution of projects and when required in estimation and treatment of claims.  He sees to the follow-up of quantities and costs.  He ensures the management of the shop designs while following ISO norms.  He ensures the exactitude of the work, in conformity with the different legislations and policies applicable

 

Requirements:

 

  • A college diploma in civil engineering or equivalent is required;
  • A minimum of 2 to 4 years experience in a similar position is normally required;
  • A good knowledge of French and English, both spoken and written is required;
  • Knowledge of the Cree language is an asset;
  • Good knowledge of informatics in general is required;
  • Team worker, he must be able to adequately delegate, be autonomous and resourceful;
  • Able to communicate efficiently, orally as well as in writing, to produce concise and precise studies, recommendations and reports and assume the management of employees in a context of multidisciplinary and multicultural teams;
  • Available to travel and/or live over short or long periods on faraway or isolated sites;
  • Must have or be disposed to follow/give all required training (ex. ISO 9001, health and safety, apprenticeship, etc.);

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Can be called upon to directly supervise student and/or clerical personnel;
  • Sees to the technical and quantitative control of projects (follow-up of quantities and costs);
  • Takes part and is implicated in safety meetings;
  • Manages the shop designs;
  • Executes the quantity returns in the field;
  • Sees to the quality control and application of ISO norms;
  • Proposes alternatives to improve the work of his group;
  • Ensures the cleanliness of his work environment;
  • Periodically and upon request informs his superior of his work, follow-ups of incidence files, anomalies met and correctives brought, advancement of his objectives, etc;
  • Is called upon to travel and live on the different work sites of the projects;
  • Performs all other tasks required by his superior;
