Summary:

Reporting to and under the authority of the mechanic team leader, the Class 2 heavy equipment mechanic participates in the preventive maintenance of equipment and the repair of various heavy, mobile or stationary equipment of the company.  He works closely with the team of mechanics and apprentice mechanics.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Participates in the maintenance and repair of the company’s mobile equipment to ensure optimal performance;
  2. Performs the repairs required by the team leader or Class 1 mechanics and ensures their compliance with them;
  3. Conducts regular inspections of equipment for defects and disturbances, regularly reports them to his superior;
  4. In the presence/with a senior class mechanic, adjusts equipment and repairs or replaces defective parts, components or systems, either manually or using power tools;
  5. Cleans, lubricates and performs any other equipment maintenance routines;
  6. Called upon to carry out necessary welding work;
  7. Proposes alternatives to improve its work;
  8. Supports all equipment and maintenance stakeholders;
  9. Is called to travel/live on the different sites of the projects;
  10. Performs any other tasks required by his superior.

 

Requirements:

  1. Diploma of Professional Studies in Heavy Equipment Mechanics is usually required although technical or professional studies in care and maintenance coupled with relevant experience maycompensate;
  2. Must hold an appropriate and valid driver’s licence
  3. Hold the security card on construction sites and the valid and appropriate CCQ card (asset)
  4. Five years of experience in a similar position (construction sector) is required;
  5. Must possess technical comprehension skills;
  6. Team worker, able to communicate effectively and work under pressure in multidisciplinary and multicultural environments;
  7. An excellent knowledge of french and english spoken and written is preferable, a good knowledge of Cree is a decisive asset;
  8. Willing to travel frequently and/or live in remote locations;
  9. Must have or be willing to take/provide any required training;
