Summary:
Under the authority and reporting to the Director of Construction, the Projects Engineer is called upon to work on the different projects of the Company. He brings his expertise in all the engineering files in collaboration with the team from the construction department constituted of engineers, civil building estimators, technicians and tradesmen. He supervises the work performed by external consultants and/or contractors while assuming the supervision of the works related to evaluation, planning, progress and finalization of the projects under his responsibility. In collaboration with the human resources and administration departments, he is implicated in different administrative tasks regarding personnel, including training and apprenticeship programs, mutation, work relations, statistical analysis, health and safety, timesheet management, overtime, absences, etc. He performs the general supervision of the personnel under his charge in conformity with the different legislations applicable.

Requirements:

 A University diploma in Civil Engineering (earthwork, infrastructures, roads, bridges) or in Building is normally required but a sufficient pertinent related experience in project management added to technical studies in a related field may compensate;
 A minimum of fiveyears experience in a similar position is normally required;
 Holder of a safety on construction sites card
 Holder of a valid driver’s permit;
 An appropriate knowledge of informatics (MSOffice, Microsoft Projects, Gescan or equivalent) is required;
 An excellent knowledge of written, spoken and read French and English is essential;
 Knowledge of the Cree language is a definite asset;
 Team worker, must be able to adequately delegate, be autonomous and self-reliant;
 Good judgement, ability to read and interpret plans and estimates is necessary;
 Ability to communicate efficiently, orally as well as in writing, to produce studies, recommendations, reports that are concise and precise and to assume the management of employees in a multiple-project context and with multidisciplinary and multicultural teams
 Availability to regularly travel and/or live over short or long periods on isolated sites;
 Analytical mind, aptitudes in communications and in efficient leadership;
 Excellent knowledge of applicable governmental laws and regulations;
 Must have or be disposed to follow/give any required training

Responsibilities:

 Represents the Company to its clients;
 Participate in the recruitment and selection of personnel; assumes the direct supervision of all the personnel associated to the projects under his charge with respect of laws, rules, regulations, policies of the Company or the government;
 Assumes the supervision and control of purchases for the projects under his charge;
 Sees to the healthy management of contracts with the clients (letters, plans, meetings, etc);
 Plans and exercises a periodical follow-up of works and production of the projects under his charge;
 Sees to obtain the required approvals, manages and exercises a budgetary follow-up adequate of the costs and expenses related to his projects;
 Elaborates and exercises an adequate follow-up of the quality plan;
 Exercises an adequate follow-up of the equipment under his charge (requests, uses and maintenance);
 Assumes the sound management of the employee timesheets (worked hours, overtime, absences, etc.);
 Assumes the general management and supervision of the sub-contractors (redaction of sub-contracting contracts, follow-up of works, and approval of deductions);
 In a punctual manner, participates in the elaboration of quotations;
 Evaluates his employees and establishes their objectives and performs their periodical follow-up;
 Counsels and participates in the decision-making process of litigious cases;
 Sees to the adequate communication of the modifications, innovations, etc to the policies, programs and others of the Company and informs Management and the employees on the interpretation of the aforementioned;
 Proposes alternatives to improve the team’s work;
 Periodically, organizes and presides internal meetings for his department and informs the employees of the modifications, strategies, alternatives, situations, etc regarding his departments and the Company as a whole;
 Proposes alternatives to improve to improve the team’s work;
 Periodically and upon his superior’s request, accounts for the situation of his department with regard to advancement of his projects and his work, follow-ups of cases of incidence, costs specific to his sector, programs, budgets under his responsibility, statistics specific to his sector, objectives advancement, etc;
 During his absences, names in writing a decision-making responsible from his department;
 Is called upon to travel and live on the different project sites;
 Perform all other tasks required by his superior
